EA Launches Origin Access, a $5 Monthly Subscription Service
EA has announced a new subscription service called Origin Access, a $5/month all-you-can-eat service for gamers that gives them unlimited access to over a dozen archive titles such as Dragon Age: Origins and 2013’s SimCity reboot.
This subscription plan echos ones already offered from Xbox and PlayStation, giving access to all-you-can-eat game downloads. Here is a quick list of titles subscribers will have access to upon signing up:
- Battlefield 3
- Battlefield 4 Deluxe Edition
- Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition
- Dragon Age™: Inquisition Digital Deluxe
- Battlefield™ Hardline Digital Deluxe
- FIFA 15
- Plants vs. Zombies™ Garden Warfare
- Need for Speed™ Rivals: Complete Edition
- Dead Space™ 3
- Dragon Age™ II
- Dead Space™ 2
- Dead Space™
- The Sims™ 3 Starter Pack
- This War of Mine™
Origin reserves the right to pull any of these titles after initially being offered, but has expressed no plans to do so at this time. It does, however, promise subscribers additional titles to be added in the future as well as trials and previews of upcoming games that haven’t yet been released.
While many of these titles are a few years old or more, this deal is a bold step forward for EA as it attempts to gain ground through its Origin service in a PC gaming market presently dominated by Valve’s Steam.
